Advicing a high school student
Hi to everyone, this is Jaime again. I hope everything
is well. Welcome back to another blog. Today, I am going to give my advice to a
high school student who is thinking about to go to college.
The first thing I would say to a high school student
it would be: Take your time to have clear what do you want to do during five
years. Some students, when they finish their school stage haven’t sure what
they want. Maybe they were good in Math but they like reading or writing about
anything, so they begin to wonder if they are good enough to do what they want
to do. The second advice I would say to a high school student is checking his
or her skills in areas like: Arts, sports, technology, music, social communications,
etc. After that, they may have a more clear idea of what type of University career
they may be more prepare to study and in which they could develop all those
skills and be happy with his or her selection.
In my case, I delayed three years to start my
university studies because I wasn’t sure what I wanted. I was thinking a lot in
starting a course to be a football coach or being a sport journalist. I finally decided to study journalist at
Universidad de Chile and perhaps in the future, I would make the course to be a
football coach.
I hope you have enjoyed reading this blog.
Hi Jaime. Your blog I liked much. I think that your is important your advice because some people need read something about this. Many people don’t have clear yourself future and this type of words relax them.
ResponderBorrarHi Jaime, your advice is spot on. I think many people are afraid of "falling behind" by not entering a career immediately, but it's worse if you're not sure; you'll just waste time and money studying something you don't really like. As you say, it's better to invest time in knowing what you really want.
